Marcus the Illustrator has been working on a number of illustrations for Eat Street Barcelona to promote their exciting street food events. As you may be able to tell from some of Marcus’ illustrations there’s a competition between chefs at Eat Street, seeing them create their own interpretations of the same dish or type of cuisine.
It’s a fun project for him to work on, with the brief giving him total freedom to create work base around the cuisine and theme of the event – his work aims to show that visiting Eat Street is an experience and so much more than your average food market. Marcus says “I wanted to show my characters enjoying their environment and their food. I didn’t want to be too specific, drawing real food or showing perfectly designed food trucks because you can see them by yourself every day in the street. I decided instead to create some characters and place them within a world that comes from my imagination, rather than from reality. That’s why food is not the focus of the piece and some of the food shown is more magical than realistic.”
We think Marcus’ colourful illustrations definitely capture the spirit of the event. Now who’s hungry?
